Why we love chocolate?

2010年9月24日 星期五

Chocolate's ingredients have a significant impact on brain chemistry, it is a drug, too, with specific pharmacological action.

The sweet stuff contains cannabinoids, the compounds responsible for the high of marijuana. More significantly, chocolate contains caffeine and two substances, tyramine and tryptophan, that the brain converts into the feel-good chemicals dopamine and serotonin.
Chocolate stimulates the brain's pleasure centers, even opening the wrapper and looking at the contents starts your serotonin fibers firing.

However, too much chocolate causes a headache. That's probably due to the rush of serotonin.

Hot Chocolate or Red Wine or Green Tea?!?!

"Beyond the froth, cocoa teems with antioxidants that prevent cancer", Cornell University food scientists say. They have found that cocoa has nearly 2 times of the antioxidants of red wine and up to 3 times those found in green tea.

Can Chocolate Bar work the same way as Hot Chocolate?

"Although a bar of chocolate exhibits strong antioxidant activity, the health benefits are still controversial because of the SATURATED FATS present," the researchers write. They explain that cocoa has about one-third of a gram of fat per one-cup serving, compared with eight grams of fat in a standard-size 40-gram chocolate bar.

With hot cocoa in the morning, green tea in the afternoon and a glass of red wine in the evening. That's a good combination.

Toblerone, the Triangular Chocolate?

Toblerone originates from the chocolatier's family name "Tobler" combined with "torrone", the Italian word for nougat. The Toblerone bar was modelled on a red and cream-frilled line of dancers at the Folies Bergères in Paris, forming a shapely pyramid at the end of a show.

Toblerone is the first patented milk chocolate bar with almonds and honey. And it's done in 1909 in Bern, Switzerland.

Ingredients:
To produce chocolate, milk is added. The milk in TOBLERONE comes mainly from Switzerland.
Californian almonds are mixed together with honey, sugar and egg white in our secret nougat recipe. It is this almond nougat that gives the Toblerone bar its unique taste.
Honey
Toblerone contains 3% Mexican honey. This honey has an intense aroma giving the Toblerone honey-almond nougat its exquisite flavour.

They have now 5 different products:
1) Original Toblerone (Toblerone Milk)
2) Toblerone Dark
3) Toblerone Honeycomb Crisp
4) Toblerone Fruit and Nuts
5) Toblerone White

Swiss - Famous in Producing Chocolate

2010年8月15日 星期日

Why Is Swiss Chocolate the Best
This question is frequently asked by public, where it brings the Swiss chocolate industry with pride. It is a fact that the products of the Swiss chocolate industry produced the most compare to the entire world. The high quality of Swiss chocolate is due to a number of factors. What is decisive is the perfect quality of raw materials and state-of-the-art manufacturing methods combined with the strict quality requirements to be satisfied by the intermediate products. Not to forget the optimal processing into finished products and highly skilled personnel.

What Exactly Is Swiss Chocolate
"Swiss chocolate" is a chocolate mixture which consisted of: cocoa beans, cocoa mixture, cocoa butter, sugar and, in some cases, milk. These ingredients are manufactured entirely in Switzerland so they are called "Swiss Chocolate''. However, any other processing outside of Switzerland, for example shaping or packaging of the product, are explicitly stated on the package.
